Now this is journalism

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the judge's DUIs disappeared just like my speeding ticket did 34 years ago because my dad knew a city councilman. Gone. See, that's what happens in small towns.

And that's why small towns need newspapers like the Marion County Record every bit as much as larger towns and cities do. :)

What I find hilarious about this bone-headed raid of this newspaper office is now the whole WORLD is investigating or interested in the allegationas against the police chief and that the magistrate judge's own past is being played out everywhere. If they'd kept their cool, let the story run, it would probably have remained a local issue and not become a national and international story. Love the stupid!

Love the comment about Kris K Kobach. :)

Great article!!

A plaintiff seeking to cover up a DUI by harassing local journalists and politicians with nut case accusations. A judge allowing the escalation of nut case accusations why exactly? A police chief allowing an obviously unethical and probably illegal search and seizure why exactly? Let’s hope the Kansas BI has their heads on straight and come down on the side of legal rules of law!

Thank you for your reporting, Marisa

I gotta hand it to the chief, he was right. More information *did* come out...

I hope DOJ takes a look at this.

I agree with Cicero! I’ve been through Kansas but I know nothing about Marion or the people who live there, but it appears that you are on top of an obvious breach of our 1st Amendment.

I would like to see a person of your dogged determination and pursuit for justice, to investigate this same type of behavior in the persecution of Trump. Unfortunately, we are only hearing biased political conclusions from both sides. Everyone involved (those I have heard personally), with the exceptions of David Horowitz and Jonathan Turkey, have some sort of personal investment in the ultimate outcome.

Hence, there is no objectivity or respect for journalism. Your reporting once was the standard but now, unfortunately, it is the exception. Thank you
