I have no words to give to the epidemic of gun violence in the States.
Every time one happens, I pour my heart out onto the page. My partner's sister and her kids are there. I am terrified that someday I'll hear that it's their school that's been attacked, that one of the little ones I've played with and laughed with, and watched grow up will not be going home.
So many of my loved ones, my closest and dearest friends, they live in the States. Will one of them be a victim? Shot in a restaurant? In a mall? Walking down the street? The victim of a Walmart spree?
It could happen at any moment. Literally any moment.
I have a friend in Louisville who I haven't heard from since the shooting. I don't know if she was in town when it happened. I don't know if she's okay, if someone she knows was hurt. I know she wasn't killed at least. That's something.
Military grade weapons are made for slaughter, they serve no purpose, other than in the hands of soldiers.
